About
Allison Tinney is the creator of Biotropicalism. As an artist, she draws inspiration from the beauty and diversity of the natural world. She is fascinated by how everything in the universe is made from a few key ingredients, and yet the different molecular patterns create an amazing array of life and forms.
In her art she attempts to shine light on the brilliant colors, textures and structures which she finds particularly beautiful and interesting. She plays with combinations of seemingly unrelated objects from biological, astronomical, and geological imagery. When creating art, Allison strives to transform these captivating images into a visual chorus of color and composition, meant to strike an emotional chord in the eyes of the viewer.
Allison currently lives in Kyoto, Japan where, in addition to creating art, she works as an English teacher and roller skates in her kitchen. She graduated from Arizona State University with a BFA in printmaking and loves to integrate several disciplines in her art process, especially painting in watercolor and acrylic, relief printing, and drawing. She has also has eight years of experience as an art intsructor to children. Allison is now devoting time to expanding her ideas and knowledge of art while creating a variety of different collections for Biotropicalism.
